Whiteout nails are so eighth grade. This season ’ s interpretation was given a lift with minimal embellishments. At Cushnie et Ochs ( left ), manicurist Patricia Yankee layered China Glaze Dandy Lyin ‘ Around under China Glaze Moonlight then applied a band of sterling eloquent and trimmed nails into a stiletto condition ; Swarovski crystals provided sparkle at Kate Spade. Manicurists got preppy at Charlotte Ronson, Kate Spade and Kye, adding neat layers of dots and stripes .

At Honor ( left ), a milky pink was topped with small Swarovski Elements crystals in a three, two, one configuration working upwards from the base of the nail down. ( Dabs of clear coat—not glue—helped the crystals cling. )

At Kate Spade ( above ), Deborah Lippmann started with two coats of the milky, alabaster Deborah Lippmann Pseudo Silk Kimono. The tip off of each nail was painted with the pewter shimmer Deborah Lippmann Bad Moon Rising, then, depending what color the model was wearing, an accent stripe of red, pink, or chicken was added .

While not a true metallic, Hughes created a reflective effect at Tadashi Shoji ( left ), mimicking the diaphanous organza in his collection. Two nude shades—the opal Butter London Hen Party and the medium beige Butter London Yummy Mummy —were finished with a flat greatcoat to minimize glow .

At Nicole Miller ( left ), Katie Jane Hughes applied a champagne glitter base coat of Butter London The 444, followed with an up swipe of aglitter black Butter London The Black Knight at the tip. She lightly dabbed the smash lacquer where the two shades met to blend the expression and reapplied The Black Knight to finish the ombre consequence .

Thick and sparse, black, ashen, colored and just plain neutral, nails were bedecked with all manner of stripes. At ICB by Prabal Gurung ( left ), a holographic thwart was placed on the center of a pinpoint painted with the sheer aristocratic flecked Butter London Leccy .

If you ’ re the kind of female child who ’ randomness looking for an it color, this season may leave you frustrated. An it pallette, however, and you ’ re in luck. The shades were plucked right out of a bouncy bouquet of daffodils, hyacinth, and lilac, with a few jelly bean tones—like the bubblegum pink at Custo Barcelona ( above ) —to sweeten things up .
